我二十岁入行，
一做三十年。
一件事能做三十年，
仔细想来，
还是蛮幸运的。
我是一名鞋楦师，
在制楦这条道上，
我一路前行。
I stepped into this career at the age of 20,
and have stayed for 30 years till now.
Having devoted my life to one profession for 30 years,
as a matter of fact, it’s kind of good fortune.
By the way, I am a shoe last craftsman.
I have always been marching in the field of shoe last making.

行外很少有人知道，
鞋楦是什么。
但做鞋的都知道，
没有好楦头，
做不出好鞋。
鞋楦是鞋的灵魂。
你可能不知道它的样子，
或从来不知道它的存在。
可是你的脚，
一定会感知。
Most people have little idea of what shoe last is.
But every shoe maker fully understands that
without good shoe last, there would not be any qualified shoes.
You might not be aware of what it looks like.
Perhaps you have never acknowledged its existence.
However, your feet would definitely recognize it.

一对鞋楦，
是为了模拟千千万万双脚，
踏入一双鞋内的感知。
静止或运动着，
日常行走，
或在野地跋涉，
优雅精巧，
或朴实憨厚。
我们做鞋楦，
制造的不是鞋楦本身，
而是试图打造由它生成的，
充满能量、感应、关怀和支持的空间。
A pair of shoe last,
work as a simulation of how thousands of feet would feel when they put on the shoes.
Stand still or in motion,
daily walking,
trekking in the wild,
elegant and exquisite,
or simple and pure.
We are not merely crafting a pair of shoe lasts,
but creating a space filled with energy, interaction, care and support that stem from the shoe last.

亲眼目睹了制楦行业受益于科技发展的快速进步。
制楦师傅的技巧和经验，与制楦工艺的发展，
紧紧结合在一起。
这赋予了鞋楦行业旺盛的生命力。
保持学习，琢磨，和敏锐，
也是我做楦三十年的一点心得吧。
I have witnessed how shoe last industry benefited from the rapid progress of technology.
The skills and experience of craftsman have been
tightly integrated with the development of shoe last making technics.
It endows vigorous vitality to the shoe last industry.
Keep learning, retain reflecting, stay sharpening,
can be my tiny attainment after working in shoe last making for 30 years.

几十年来，
我做过很多对鞋楦，
如果把它们排在一起，
能摆满几面墙。
它们看上去很像，
可在我眼里，
它们都是不同的孩子。
每一毫厘细微的差别，
都经过了反复琢磨。
因应不同的功能与造型需求。
正是这些差别，
传达出含义、感受和价值。
是做楦的挑战，
也是迷人之处。
I have made plenty pairs of shoe last for decades.
If you put them all together,
they can cover several walls completely.
They all look kind of similar,
but in my eyes,
each of them is a unique child.
Every inch of subtle differences,
has gone through repeated pondering,
to fulfil the requirement of different functions and sculpts.
It’s exactly because of these differences,
the meaning, feeling and value are presented.
This is the challenge of making a shoe last,
but the charm lies in it as well.

我的生活很简单，
常穿的也只是这双休闲鞋。
可我做过运动鞋、高跟鞋、皮鞋、登山鞋等很多类鞋的楦头。
想象着他们穿着各式各样的鞋，
过着各式各样漂亮又精彩的人生，
我就觉得高兴与满足。
My life is simple,
I wear casual shoes always frequently.
Yet, I have fabricated diverse shoe lasts for sneakers, high-heels, leather shoes, climbing boots and so on.
By imaging people wear various shoes and living diverse yet equally wonderful lives,
I feel happy and content.
